Changing the Game in Video Delivery and Product Design

This week at HP Discover in Las Vegas, Antonio Neri from HP announced the use of Intel’s first Xeon® E3 processor (codenamed Crystal Well) with integrated Intel® Iris Pro Graphics. This Xeon® E3 processor brings high-performance media processing capabilities to a new HP Moonshot cartridge, codenamed Anders. By 2017, it’s expected that 69% of all consumer internet traffic will be video content. To keep up with this insatiable demand, video content providers will need high-performance transcoding solutions to convert and serve video in a range of formats, bit rates, and resolutions. This new HP Moonshot cartridge with Intel Xeon E3 and Iris Pro Graphics will bring new levels of performance and efficiency of video transcoding by delivering up to 5x higher transcoding density.

The advances we put into this new Xeon E3 also make it ideal for workloads that are served remotely and  graphically intensive . At Citrix Synergy, Citrix, HP, and Intel discussed the ways that the Anders cartridge enables support for rich remote workloads like CAD, 3D rendering, and video editing.  At HP Discover, we are demonstrating  advanced graphics virtualization technologies from our collaboration with Citrix. These capabilities provide users the flexibility to work on any device anywhere.  Intel® Graphics Virtualization Technology™ (Intel GVT) helps make these rich experience possible.  Intel GVT is a portfolio of technologies that address a large variety of graphics usages like Workstation Remoting, VDI, Transcode, Media streaming, and On-line gaming.
