itc_cs_eurocar_xeon_carousel_preview.jpgHow can you grow your business while shrinking the size of your data center? Just ask Europcar. This South African rental car firm was able to create a new productivity-boosting IT infrastructure based on Intel® Xeon® processor 5500 series to support unified communications -- after consolidating servers by 46 percent with virtualization.

“Key goals included bringing the physical IT infrastructure back in-house, which meant building a new data center and virtualizing both servers and storage,” explained Shaun Phillips, general manager of IT operations and infrastructure for Europcar. “Furthermore, we wanted to establish a platform for unified communications so that we could enable real-time communication in the future.”

With the virtualization, end users now have access to new servers in 45 minutes and easier management has increased IT productivity by around 85 percent.
