Red Hat is an open-source based software company. Red Hat User Groups are a reflection of how people from different businesses and different types of uses of technology come together in a collaborative environment and openly share new technologies. On Dec. 4th, Red Hat hosted their first of soon to by many Mid Atlantic User Group meetings. Intel and Vizuri were invited to speak on the following topics followed by live demos and labs:
- “On Ramp to Enterprise OpenStack” Laurie Martin (Intel) and Brent Holden (Red Hat)
- “Liberate your Files with OpenShift, Red Hat Storage and OWNCloud” Joe Dickman (Vizuri)
- “Liberate your Hadoop File System” Ben Han (Intel) and Mark Hayford (Red Hat)
In a room filled with highly technical Red Hat users, all ears were open on how Red Hat Storage is able to store data into Intel’s Distribution of Apache Hadoop without having to rely on the default Hadoop File System. Hadoop was the elephant in the room (no pun indented) and questions were flying to learn the strides that Intel was making in Apache Hadoop and in data center software. Intel’s Distribution is highly performant, scalable and optimizes Intel Architecture. Integrating with Red Hat Storage brings a whole new dimension for software defined storage.
