Today IDG’s Computerworld announced the recipients of the 15th annual Computerworld Premier 100 award and I’d like to congratulate Edward Goldman for being selected to this list. Mr. Goldman is the Intel IT Chief Technology Officer and has more than 20 years of IT industry experience.
Premier 100 recipients are selected based on the excellence and quality of their IT efforts and I for one can’t think of a more deserving candidate than Ed. Since the beginning of 2013, Ed has directed an Intel IT initiative to make all of Intel's business applications multi-platform and multi-OS capable. Business users require choice in the computing devices they use in order to be more productive. As an IT organization, we needed to provide solutions designed to adapt to the business needs of today (e.g. touch-enabled) and tomorrow (e.g. voice and gesture-enabled). This effort is called “5-Star Apps” because there are five key attributes that the apps must attain before achieving a 5-Star status. These include security, intuitive user experience, cross-platform compatibility, multi-device compatibility and support of interactions such as touch. You can learn more about our journey to multi-platform capabilities here.
This year we also kicked off a new mobile application called the Intel IT Business Review in which senior leaders provide insights into Intel IT best practices. Ed kicked off the first edition in which he focused on innovation and Intel IT’s process for identifying, prioritizing and pursuing opportunities that hold promise. You can read more about the work Ed and his colleagues at Intel IT are doing through the latest edition of the Intel IT Business Review. From your device, go to http://itbusinessreview.intel.com or download the app to your device from Google Play, Amazon or iTunes.
