Discover the transformation engine at the heart of Las Vegas

I had recently shared my thoughts on how Intel is getting to the heart of IT at HP Discover. Now that I am in Las Vegas and experiencing the labyrinth of casinos and architectural marvels, I cannot help but take a brief pause and wonder about the continuous transformation that this city has gone through over the years. Transformation is a constant engine at the heart of this city that churns out innovative enhancements to the visitor’s experience. Just like Intel is at the heart of the HP Discover conference, the transformation engine is at the heart of Las Vegas.

“The New Style of IT will drive new avenues for you to do business,” says this abstract for the DT3564 - Modernize with the New Style of IT and app transformation session at HP Discover. Las Vegas is no exception. Let’s see how.

Las Vegas 2014.jpg

1. User Experience. The customer experience must be one that brings together the various amenities; including food, shopping, entertainment, and of course, making your best bets. Enterprises must monitor the customer experience they provide today and continue to differentiate themselves with value-added services. Las Vegas must cater to some of us who plan on dressing up with wearables!

2. Big Data vs Little Data. Intel Fellow Eric Dishman showed us how Big Data matters at the last HP Discover. Thousands of breathtaking stunts, magic shows, and comedy acts take center stage at every Vegas casino in concert. All this Big Data must be processed into meaningful Little Data by taking timely action.

3. Infrastructure. Las Vegas must ensure that the infrastructure can enable the increased volume of tourists and transactions resulting from the plethora of mobile devices. Robust solutions showcased in sessions like the ones below would be a great start:

4. Security. Vegas, a city where transactions happen every second, can be a prime target for planned, well-orchestrated security violations. How about taking a few tips from the discussion forum TB4082 - Establishing trusted security in your HP private and hybrid cloud with Intel Security and VMware. You don’t gamble with security even when you are in Vegas.

While these are multiple factors to be considered, sustained execution requires a transformation engine at the heart that must continue to churn out modernization with renewed vigor driven by the New Style of IT. Just like having solutions with Intel at their heart.
