Supercomputing’12 is an exciting time for high performance computing. The big news at this year’s event, being held in Salt Lake City Utah, is Intel’s launch of the Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor built on Intel’s Many Integrated Core (MIC) architecture. Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors promise to usher in a powerful new tool for discovery and innovation for high performance computing workloads. In segments like HPC, Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors provide highly parallel processing to power breakthrough innovations.

Intel’s Enterprise Platforms and Services Division (EPSD – maker of Intel® Server Boards and Systems) is excited to offer a variety of server board and system offerings for the Intel® Xeon® processor E5 that support the newly announced Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor (formerly known by the codename Knights Corner). Server boards and systems from EPSD have been at the foundation for Intel® Xeon Phi™ development for over two years. In fact, both the development systems provided to developers to facilitate their software creation, and the server systems that Intel used to test and validate the Intel® Xeon Phi™ were built with Intel server boards and systems from EPSD.

EPSD offers server resellers the option to build systems in 1U, 2U, and 4U configurations, with offerings for both full and half-width boards and systems. EPSD will also offer support for 1, 2, or 4 Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors installed, with standard system support for up to 4 Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors.

In addition to support for the new Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor, Intel also unveiled their new 4 socket server board S4600LH (formerly codenamed Lizard Head Pass), and the associated server system R2000LH designed to meet the needs of HPC customers. The innovative Intel® Server System R2000LH2/LT2 family delivers best in class serviceability features with uncompromising performance and high reliability as the server of choice for highly virtualized environments or demanding HPC applications requiring maximum performance density. It features support for four powerful Intel® Xeon® processors E5-4600 and a massive memory capacity of up to 1.5 terabytes via 48 memory sockets in a dense 2U rack system. Integrated dual 1GbE or 10GbE ports, six PCIe* Gen 3 x16 slots, plus two expansion slots for quad 1GbE, dual 10GbE, or Infiniband* modules provide the expandability and flexibility that enterprise class customers expect. Over 150 onboard sensors feed the intelligent system-level management software with temperature, voltage, and other information to ensure maximum uptime and allow you to monitor overall system health and resources

In addition to providing the best in class server building blocks for HPC, EPSD has a long tradition of delivering the tools the channel needs in order to help sell the latest systems. EPSD recently released new focused marketing materials and advertising tools for the channel to promote HPC systems based on Intel® Server Boards and Systems. The “HPC Segment Selling Campaign” and associated assets are available now on These targeted assets include selling guides and battle cards, plus customizable web banners, email templates, telemarketing scripts, and much more.
